Last December, Mint Hill's Christmas Market set up on the soccer field at Veterans Memorial Park. It ran for one Friday evening, and guests were asked to bring their own chairs and blankets for an outdoor screening of "Elf." This year the same event moves indoors to the renovated Bain School and runs for two days. The Christmas Parade also lines up at that address a week earlier. Two of Mint Hill's three December traditions now start at 11524 Bain School Road.
Three Years of Mingle & Jingle, Side by Side
The easiest way to see the change is to compare the town's own listings from the past three years.
| Year | Date | Venue | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Friday, Dec. 13 | Veterans Park | One evening, market from 5 p.m., movie at 6:30 p.m. |
| 2025 | Friday, Dec. 12 | Veterans Memorial Park soccer field | One evening, market from 5 p.m., "Elf" at 6:30 p.m. |
| 2026 | Friday, Dec. 11, and Saturday, Dec. 12 | Mint Hill Community Center, 11524 Bain School Road | Friday 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. |
Saturday is the real addition. Both earlier versions took place on a single Friday, with the market opening at 5 p.m. and the movie starting at 6:30. In 2026 the Holiday Mingle & Jingle listing runs the market from late morning into the evening, with more than 30 vendors selling handmade goods, food trucks, a visit with Santa and "Arthur Christmas" on the big screen. In his July message, Mayor Dale Dalton said the event would also include free train rides, popcorn and hot chocolate.
The food lineup will be new as well. Charlotte Weekly's preview of the 2025 event named Apostle'Que, Little Taste of Chicago, Cookin' and Cruzin', A Tana Empanada, Treasured Treats, The Donut Shack and Lief Cafe. The town hasn't announced its 2026 food vendors. The vendor application is still linked on the event page.
The Parade Already Lines Up Here
Bain School had a role in the holidays before the building reopened. The Christmas Parade has started there for years, so the town's new hub is also the parade's starting point.
The 2026 Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is Saturday, December 5, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The route runs from Bain School down Matthews-Mint Hill Road to Publix. That end point differs from last year. In 2025 the route followed Bain School Road to Matthews-Mint Hill Road and finished at the Mint Hill Library. If you've watched from the same curb for years, check the 2026 route before you pick your spot.
After the parade, the evening moves to Town Hall for food trucks, entertainment and the tree lighting, and Santa is expected to stop by. In his July message, the mayor wrote that more than 1,200 people took part in the parade and tree lighting tradition last year.
Santa's mailbox sits at Town Hall from December 1 through 14, and the Mingle & Jingle page says Santa will arrive at the Community Center "after picking up his letters at Town Hall." So letters dropped off after the parade end up at the Community Center the following weekend.
A Building That's Busy All Year
Mingle & Jingle can move indoors because the Community Center already has a full weekly schedule. The town bought the old Bain School and renovated about 60,000 square feet of community space. The building includes a demonstration and teaching kitchen, a youth gym, a performance stage, birthday party rooms, a large event space and multipurpose rooms. It also houses offices for the Chamber of Commerce, Mint Hill Arts and Mint Hill Police administration. Outside there's an 8,000-square-foot splash pad, which the town calls the largest in Mecklenburg County, and a 4,600-square-foot playground with inclusive features.
The center held its ribbon-cutting on March 12, 2026. Ahead of that, the mayor's February message listed its regular programs:
- A monthly Book Club, Mint Hill Arts workshops and Trivia
- Weekly game sessions, including Mexican Train, Bingo and Dungeons & Dragons
- A Senior Lounge for adults 55 and older
- A weekly Veterans Canteen
- Rooms for parties, classes, workshops and weddings, booked through RecDesk
This matters for December because the Christmas Market now takes place in a building people already visit during the week. Until this year, the town's holiday events used park space that was set up for the evening and cleared afterward.
November Begins With Veterans
The season really starts in early November, and it also runs through this building. The annual Veterans Breakfast is November 7 and is open to all veterans. In his most recent message, Mayor Dalton directed veterans who want an invitation to call the Mint Hill Community Center at 704-563-3864. His July message had listed the Town Hall number instead. The weekly Veterans Canteen also meets at the center, so the breakfast is now part of a program that runs every week of the year.
Look up while you're driving around town, too. Through the Town of Mint Hill Military Hometown Heroes Banner Program, banners with each veteran's photo, name and branch of service hang on light poles for Veterans Day. The application deadline for this cycle was September 1, so this year's banners are already set.
A Downtown Farewell This Fall
Downtown Mint Hill also said goodbye to Panzú Brewery this season. The brewery at 7251 Matthews-Mint Hill Road held a farewell celebration on Sunday, September 20, after three years downtown. As CharlotteFive reported, siblings Johan Marte and Rosa Marte de Pacheco opened it in September 2023 as a tribute to their father. It paired New England and tropical IPAs with Latin and Caribbean small plates such as arepas, arroz con pollo and chicharrón. In its farewell note, the brewery thanked the Mint Hill community "for welcoming us, supporting us and giving us the opportunity to serve you."
Panzú was part of the town's calendar, too. It was one of the beverage vendors at the May 16 Music & Brews at Mint Hill Veterans Memorial Park, alongside Americana Brewery and Lower Left Brewing.
